FIT Programm - Engineering Talents for Germany at UDE
The Faculty of Engineering at UDE is addressing the skills gap in the engineering sector and the high demand for engineers by focusing on supporting and integrating international students. With 8,000 students, the faculty plays a crucial role in Germany's industrial and innovative future. To counter declining interest in STEM fields domestically, the UDE with funding from DAAD running a project of “Engineering Talents for Germany” to support and integrate their international students into academic success and secure international talent for the country's engineering sector, with following project descriptions:
Goals:
1. Support academic success for international students.
2. Facilitate integration into the German labor market.
Key Measures:
• Study preparation and academic support courses.
• Enhanced career services.
• Building networks with UDE units and industry partners.
Details:
• Duration: April 1, 2024 – December 31, 2028.
• Funding: Supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and DAAD.
Target Groups:
• Target group 1: All regularly enrolled ISE students (Bachelor and Master)
• Target group 2: Double-degree students in the ISE Bachelor's program with partner universities in Southeast Asia and Mercator Office
• Target group 3: ISE students in the Bachelor's program according to §49 (5) and via Mercator Office
• Target group 4: ISE students in the Bachelor's program after the 1st and 2nd year of study from Zhengzhou University and Inner Mongolia University

Visitation of UKM FKAB Delegates to UDE
A delegation from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FKAB), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), visited Universität Duisburg-Essen (UDE) from January 13th to 16th, 2025. The delegation comprised Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Syuhaimi Ab Rahman, Dean of FKAB, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Shuhaida Harun, Deputy Dean of FKAB, Dr. Norhidayah binti Mat Taib, UKM-UDE Program Coordinator, and Ms Siti Husna Jeffrey, Officer of the UKM Mercator Office.

German Open Day & Info Event 2024, 22 November
Event for the Dual Degree Bachelor Engineering Program between UKM and UDE was held on November 22nd. The event featured a series of activities, including a German Food Fair organized by UDE exchange students, games, and a German movie screening. These activities complemented the informational sessions about thecollaborative program between UKM and UDE.
